For smooth surfaces and smaller sized murals we recommend our VersaGrip material.

Although some have had good luck with removing and reinstalling a SmartStick® mural, we do not guarantee that it will work. Many factors can impact the effectiveness of the adhesive, like dust or debris, damage during transport, fresh paint behind the mural in the new location, and others. We only recommend SmartStick® as a single installation.

Every mural is made to order using custom dimensions. You pick the size based on the size of your wall and whether you want it to fit the entire wall or a portion of the wall.

Our images: Minimum size of 24 square feet, with no maximum.

Create Your Own Mural: Minimum size of 24 square feet, with no maximum as long as your image meets our resolution requirements.

For large spaces measuring 20 feet or more wide: We recommend choosing one of the ultra high-resolution images from our collection of Extra Large Wall Murals.

How do I know if my image is of high enough quality for a mural?

High-resolution images 4MB or larger are recommended. Files must be in a .jpg, ai, .eps, .psd, .tiff, .pdf, or .psb file type. You can upload your file to us via our CYO File Upload Form, provide the dimensions you would like to see the mural printed at, and we will help you determine if the quality is to your satisfaction. Refer to our Image Quality Guidelines for more details.

What are copyrights?

A copyright gives its owner the right to copy, distribute, publicly display or create derivative works from the original work. A copyright also gives its owner the right to license those rights to others.

By uploading your image and using the Murals Your Way 'Create Your Own' custom wall mural service you represent and warrant that (i) you lawfully own or otherwise lawfully possess all necessary rights with respect to your image submission, (ii) your image submission does not and will not infringe or otherwise violate any intellectual property or privacy right of any third party, (iii) you have obtained written consent or permission to use the images and likenesses of every identifiable individual who appears in your image submission, and (iv) you are not using this service for any unlawful purpose.

Murals Your Way respects copyright laws and has the right to reject or refuse to print any images that do not follow copyright laws or that do not comply with our core values. Please make sure you own the rights or have permission to use any of the images you upload for us to print.

Can I purchase and use an image from a stock photo site?

Yes, depending on the size of the mural you want. Give us a call and we can help ensure you have the right quality and size for a mural.

Can I use an image found on the internet (like Google, Pinterest, etc.)?

Typically, no. Most likely the quality will not be sufficient for a mural and you will also need to have permission from the copyright holder.

Can I use editorial images for a wall mural?

Unfortunately, no. Murals Your Way does not have any Editorial Use Only images on our website nor can they be printed from stock image websites.

The crop tool lets you select which area of an image will be printed on your final mural. When using custom measurements, your chosen image may require cropping, rather than stretching and distorting the image to fit the new proportions.

After entering custom dimensions, a crop preview box will appear on the image. Areas that are grayed out with hatch lines will be excluded from the image – these lines will NOT be printed on the final mural. To capture the area that you want printed, move the crop box by dragging it from the middle, or adjust the size of the crop box by dragging the corners. Note that significantly cropping may reduce the clarity of the mural. For best results, use an image with similar proportions to your wall. Contact customer service for guidance on selecting the best image for your wall dimensions.

Cost per square foot is based on finished mural size. For Create Your Own murals, minimum prices apply.

Our standard lead time is approximately 10-12 business days from the time the order is placed until it is in your hands. We do have the ability to expedite your order for an additional charge if you need it sooner.

Option 1 – Free Preprinted Material Samples: Free Preprinted Material Samples are an easy way to see and compare our different materials. These 8”x8” swatches are preprinted with default images that we have chosen to showcase the look of each material when printed. Select any or all of our different materials using the Order Materials Swatches Form.

Option 2 – Custom Image Material Samples: Can’t decide which material to choose for your final mural? For $20, order a Custom Sample of your chosen image on any material. Order one to preview the look of your mural, or order multiple to compare the look of your image on different materials. Custom samples are approx. 8” x 10” and are not intended to evaluate image resolution or ink coloring.

Option 3 – Strike-Off (Printed at Actual Size): Strike-Offs allow you to preview a section (approx. 18” x 50”) of your mural image, printed at full size on a chosen material. Strike-Offs show how your image will look scaled up to the dimensions of your wall, ideal for evaluating the resolution quality of your image when printed at full scale. They can also be used to evaluate ink coloring. Strike-Offs cost $40 each and must be ordered through an Account Manager. To order, call us at 888.558.0279.

Basic Image Cropping – Free

Basic Image Adjustment – Free: Turn an image to black and white or flip it horizontally. These options are available on an image's product detail page.

Adjust the scale of a pattern repeat – Free for Scalable Patterns only: The option will be shown on the product detail page if a pattern is scalable/repeatable. Contact us to inquire about adjusting a pattern that does not display this option.

Standard Personalization – $50.00 Fee: Add a name, line of text or a short quote. Standard personalization options are available to select on an image’s product detail page.

Graphics services available for an additional fee of $75 per hour: Examples include color changing or matching, creating a photo or word collage, extending or adding to an image, adding a logo, modifying a composition, changing or removing a background, creating a custom concept, and more. Protective Matte Topcoat ($2.00 per square foot) is a clear, matte, polyurethane finish that is applied to the surface of your wall mural in-house by our production staff. Topcoat adds extra protection, aids against scratches, and makes cleaning the mural much easier and without damage. It is recommended for any wall murals that are in high traffic areas where they may be rubbed or touched on a repeated basis; areas with high moisture; or any commercial applications.

MicroBloc Antimicrobial Topcoat ($2.50 per square foot) is a combination of our Protective Matte Topcoat and MicroBloc, an antimicrobial additive. MicroBloc keeps wall murals fresh, clean and odor free by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi responsible for unpleasant smells, staining and deterioration. MicroBloc topcoat is ideal for commercial uses like healthcare facilities, hotels, washrooms, daycare centers, and any other high-traffic spaces that require frequent cleaning.

FedEx Ground Shipping: Free for all mural orders shipping to the contiguous 48 U.S. states. We also ship FedEx to Alaska, Hawaii, and other U.S. properties, but there will be shipping charges to those destinations. We offer 2nd day air and overnight rush shipping options for an extra charge.

Yes, we will ship to all locations served by FedEx International Economy shipping. This option guarantees delivery within 2-3 business days to Canada & Mexico and 2-5 business days worldwide. Call us for international delivery rates or submit your shipping address within our checkout process. Murals shipped internationally may incur charges such as customs duties and import tax, which are the responsibility of the customer.

After you place your order you will receive an email confirmation with your order details. Once your order has been completed and ships, you will receive an email with a FedEx tracking number to monitor delivery. If you did not receive an email, please double check your spam / junk folder.

Yes, as long as you feel comfortable and capable of installing the mural correctly. With the help of a friend and a couple hours on your hands, you can easily and quickly install a Murals Your Way wall mural! If you are looking for a professional installer in your area, use the handy online Professional Wallpaper Installer Database on the Wallcovering Installers Association (WIA) website to locate a WIA paperhanger in your area. Or, use Home Advisor to find an installer near you.

For high-moisture areas, such as bathrooms, humid or damp basements, or pool areas, we recommend our Vinyl HD - Texture material. The addition of our protective topcoat will help further protect the wall mural from moisture. If you suspect moisture exists behind the wall, consider choosing our MicroBloc Antimicrobial Topcoat. MicroBloc inhibits the growth of bacteria, fungi, mildew, and mold. Read more about installing a mural in a bathroom in our blog post, "Can You Use Wallpaper In A Bathroom?"

Depending on the material you choose, you will need a combination of the following tools: snap-blade knife, straight edge/level, smoothing tool, paste applicator, tape measure or spray bottle. You may also need wallpaper adhesive (paste). Murals Your Way sells Installation Kits for our materials as well as paste.

For Eco Bella™ - Texture, Prepasted Wallpaper and Vinyl HD - Texture: Ordinary dirt spots may be removed with a mild soap and warm water. Clean from the bottom of the wall upward to protect the baseboard and prevent streaking. Rinse thoroughly with clean water from the top down using a sponge. Blot wall covering dry with a soft, lint-free towel. For more difficult stains that are only surface deep, the use of a stronger detergent is recommended. Try a small subtle spot first before attempting the entire wall.

For SmartStick® Peel & Stick Removable Wallpaper: Clean with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth using a blotting action (do not rub). Do not use any liquids to clean the mural as they may cause discoloration and/or remove ink from the surface.

For VersaGrip: use a mild soap and water, starting in the middle and work your way out. (Cleaning from the edges toward the middle of the product may damage the adhesive properties of the product.) If power washing, use low pressure and keep at least 3-1/2 ft. away from the product.

Starting in the corner of the first panel, carefully pull the wallcovering off at a 45 degree angle, panel by panel. Once the entire mural is removed, wash off any paste residue that is left on the wall. See our How To Remove Wallpaper page for more information.
